  The quality of the sound and bass this dock produces is absolutely excellent ... and then after only a few weeks it just suddenly stopped working and wont respond to, or even charge, any ipods/iphones attached to it. I was told a few had been returned already (just to that store) and searching the internet it appears a common problem. It's been returned for repair but haven't heard anything for a month... was good while it lasted - but beware! Of all the ipod docks I tried, this thing stood out. I was looking to purchase a Harmon kardon dock, but I couldn't find one for sale. I came across the Kicker one and have never looked back. Using the remote is a bit of a pain though, as you have to be close enough to your ipod to read the results, so it makes the remote control a bit redundant. That said, it's the sound that comes out that is the real feature and it's unbeatable for the price. I already had the Kicker i150 in the bedroom and was looking for something bigger in the lounge room. Listened to the Bose docking systems and they did not sound as good as the i501. This dock can be heard throughout the house, great bass. As the sales person said 'You will not be dissapointed'. The sound that comes out of this thing is SOOOOO good. but the reason i rated it 2 stars is because it has problems picking up when you connect you idevice e.g iPod. any way i have already traded it in for a new one and now the new one has the same problem. Just bought one of these beauties. Nothing could wipe this smile from my face. I bought one of these the other day after a instore review. I was amazed then, but i was blown away when i got home. This thing kicks louder than my friends sony 2.1 hi-fi. Absolutely amazing to get such performance so cheap. Th only problem i had with it is a kinda clipping noise at extreme levels/bass. I put that down to the subs performance affecting air pressure against the 5" speakers, and doesnt affect the system in any way. if you want a portable boom box, these are the new bad boys on the block I bought this unit on the weekend after looking around so long for a top quality unit and this is the loudest, punchiest portable ipod dock that I have ever heard, awesome for parties and anything where a portable unit is needed..Ive heard other more expensive units and its still louder than them all.. A rechargable one would top this unit off but atm you can buy a 12 volt cord for them for the car so that will have to do.. Bought this today after looking at it for a while; excellent quality audio, the bass that this pumps out will put to shame a lot of iPod speaker docks - Bose watch out! It's genuinely something to experience and it doesn't look like much, which is maybe why it surprises so many. Also the RCA connection on the back lets you hook it up to a TV or any other device, so you can play video off your iPod/iPhone onto your TV with audio on both the TV and dock, simply brilliant. This unit reeally does kick a!!!!!! A good store demo was enough to sell me (and a passerby!). While not quite the full blown home audio, the oomph produced in bass and the clarity of high notes is enough to satisfy. possibly the greatest ipod dock on the planet, brutal bass, great sound, what else could you ask for? My 80 year old Dad wanted an Ipod and dock to play his music (mostly country) after listening to my set up (Klipsch Dock). Tried a few out but he liked the IK501 because it was louder and had a 'bigger' sound to the others. It wasn't until we got home and played it in his house that we really appreciated the extra 'oomph' that this box puts out. I've listened to Bose Docks and others; this is the best sound from a dock I've heard. Now all I've got to do is try and get him to swap for mine! Kicker performance that puts speakers three times it's price to shame! Get this while its hot! write a review
