What's the deal with JB Hi-Fi gift cards?

JB Hi-Fi gift cards are the perfect gift solution. They are easy to buy, completely secure and a snap to redeem instore or online. Plus, they never expire. The recipient can receive either a physical gift card or have an emailed digital version. If you choose the physical card, it will be mailed via standard Australia Post usually the next business day. The email version can be used at our JB Hi-Fi website immediately upon receipt.

What happened to the old JB Hi-Fi Online vouchers?

These have been replaced by the new gift cards which can be used online and in-store. We are continuing to accept the old online vouchers. If we choose to discontinue them in future, we will advise all valid voucher holders and replace them with new gift cards.

Buying a gift card: What are the common scenarios?

a) "I’d like to buy a JB Hi-Fi gift card as a gift and get JB to post the card to the recipient"

Fill in the recipient’s name and details in the form and select either 'By Email' or 'Send it in the post'. If sending in the post, when you take your order through the checkout, you will need to enter the recipient’s shipping address. The physical Gift Card will usually be sent the next business day and will be received by standard Australia Post usually within 2-5 business days (please allow up to 10 business days for it to arrive). If being sent by email, it should be received  the following business day.

b) "I'd like to buy the JB Hi-Fi gift card as a gift but I’d like to give the card to the recipient myself later"

Fill in the recipient’s name and your email address in the recipient’s email field should you elect the Digital version, or your shipping address should you elect the Physical card. When you take your order through the checkout, you will need to enter your shipping address. We currently do not have the feature to allow Gift Cards of either format to be sent on a later date.

c) "The gift card is for my use only"

Select 'I just want to send this card to myself' and ensure you fill in your own details as required.

What dollar values can I purchase?

You can nominate your own value by typing it in OR select a popular value. Minimum is $10.00 and maximum is $500.00.

Can I include a personal message to the recipient?

Yes! Simply enter your personal text in the field indicated (optional). This will appear in the recipient’s email or on the letter.

What happens after I purchase the gift card?

After you have placed your order for an email voucher, an email will be sent to the recipient by following business day. This has all the information they need to begin purchasing on our website immediately. This voucher can also be printed out and used instore. Simply follow the instructions in the email.

I haven't received my gift card yet. Why is there a delay?

Some gift card emails are received instantly, but others can be delayed slightly by our payment authentication process. This process occurs to protect cardholders and will be resolved by next business day. If you haven't received the email by then, please contact our support staff.

Can I order other items at the same time as ordering a gift card?

If you are sending the gift card to a friend's shipping address, all items in the order will go to that address. So if you're shopping for yourself at the same time, it's better to create a new order for your own purchases.

How can I purchase multiple gift cards at once?

If they're going to the same shipping address, this is fine. Where multiple gift cards are being posted to multiple shipping addresses, you will need to place a separate order for each gift card. If the cards are going to the one shipping address, but different email addresses (e.g. staff gifts), they can be combined into one order. You just need to fill out a card for each recipient. Don’t forget to press ADD ANOTHER after entering your gift card details.

How do I redeem my gift card in-store or online?

a) At JB Hi-Fi Online: simply place your items in your cart and take them through checkout. At the payment screen, select “Gift Card” from the dropdown menu. If your gift card balance does not exceed the price of your purchase, you can pay the difference with another gift card, Visa/Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Visa Checkout.

b) In-store at JB Hi-Fi: you must have your gift card with you to purchase at the cashier. JB Hi-Fi staff will swipe/scan your card. If your gift card balance does not exceed the price of your purchase, you can pay the difference with a selected credit card or cash.

Can I use multiple gift cards for my online purchase?

The website will only allow up to 5 gift cards to be redeemed per order.

How many gift cards can I buy in one order?

You can purchase as many gift cards as you like.

How do I check the balance of my gift card?

You can check your remaining balance here at any time. You will need your card number and PIN.

Can I top up the balance of my gift card?

No. Gift cards are sold on a one-use only basis. A new gift card will be needed for further purchases.

Do I need to keep my gift card after placing a JB Hi-Fi Online order?

No. If a refund is required due to your order not being shipped or you are entitled to a partial refund, this will be provided via refund - we will issue you a new gift card.

How will I receive my refund?

All refunds will be returned back to your original payment method.

Can I use my gift card at a New Zealand JB Hi-Fi store?

No, they are only accepted in Australian JB Hi-Fi stores.
