Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent The motor is only DC & seems to run not very fast that probably assists in making this shaver super quiet. I am suprised how well it works as I don't get shaving rashes around the neck & it cuts real close for an electric. I had an old 240v phillips saver from the late 70s that was a noisy beast. I bought teplacement blades several times until it finally the cutting head disintegrated. Since then, I learnt to use disposable razors without a mirror in the shower, so I don't waste time with the tsink routines. I mostly use the Phillips when I wish to change my routine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT VALUE This Philishave 1000 series shaver S1110 is great value. It is lightweight, but the motor is powerful enough to cope with the most stubborn stubble. The pop-up trimmer is a great value-added feature. BUT: the cutters are fiddly and difficult to remove and replace after cleaning; the pictogram instructions are confusing; and the cost of a set of replacement cutter blades is exhorbitant - for just $AUD9.00 more than a set of cutter blades, I could have bought a complete shaver as a spare!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Blades are very slow- revving The blades don`t spin as fast as my other Philips shavers, so it takes longer to shave. This is the second slow-revving shaver I`ve had after returning the first one( a mains operated one) for running slowly then speeding up, then slowing down. This battery operated one is just slow-running all the time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor product design I had a Philips dry shaver that lasted me around 15 years. Looking forward to purchasing my next one, I was sadly disappointed to find Philips had massively gone down hill in both quality and product design/testing. After reading bad reviews on all the more expensive wet shavers, including unclose shaves and powerpacks stopping working (I experienced this myself and ended up throwing the glorified paperweight in the bin) - this time I opted for another dry shaver only to be again extremely disappointed with this model. What is wrong with this shaver: 1. The poor design means the on button is exactly where you hold it, meaning it's easy to accidentally turn it off while using it 2. The pop up trimmer doesn't raise to the appropriate angle meaning it constantly closes while using 3. The shave isn't that impressively close but it's close enough 4. Why the heck would you make a shaver that you can't use why charging?? My old portable shaver could do this - why have we gone backwards?? My next shaver will be a braun foil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mostly excellent Does what it says - gives a close shave. Gets much closer than my cheap manual razor. Battery life has been sufficient too. Only let down is the pop up trimmer which doesnt work too well for me, but I can make do with using the rotary blades instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good shave. In spite of not being a lift and cut system it still gives a really good shave. At the price it can't be beaten. Dismantle and clean every 2 weeks, not each month, brush out each day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy and light wieght I have very thick facial hair that I need to electric shave prior to razor shaving. This product does the job well and with no fuss. For the pice it is pf very good value.
