Description

A beautiful and contemporary re-telling of Colin Thiele’s classic Australian tale.

‘Storm Boy’ has grown up to be Michael Kingley, a successful retired businessman and grandfather. When Kingley starts to see images from his past that he can’t explain, he is forced to remember his long-forgotten childhood, growing up on an isolated coastline with his father. He recounts to his grand-daughter the story of how, as a boy, he rescued and raised an extraordinary orphaned pelican, Mr Percival. Their remarkable adventures and very special bond has a profound effect on all their lives.

Based on the beloved book, Storm Boy is a timeless story of an unusual and unconditional friendship.

Reviews

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A good start for those who haven't seen original This movie was basically made for the younger generation to discover Storm Boy for the first time. A decent movie this was. Some of the shots of sunsets and sun rises were incredible, and Geoffrey Rush did a good job. However, this film did not add much to the original, especially with the scenes of old Storm Boy. Not much to say expect very un inspired and not worth a watch in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A beautiful modern take on this Australian classic Excellent acting and cinematography. I saw this about 5 weeks ago and am buying it for my almost 49 yr old son to remind him of his 9 yo shy self who won a Book Week prize at school when he went as Storm Boy with a large cardboard Mr Percival which we made. Everyone should see this film.
