1970s Australia: A 200-ton blue whale washes up on a local beach and the kids think it's the biggest thing that's ever happened in their lives. Behind closed doors, the Mums and Dads of this quiet suburban cul-de-sac celebrate in their own special way, by joining the sexual revolution. It’s a time of boxed wine, bad hair, bad styles, bad choices, but good times. And like the rotting whale, it's all about to go spectacularly wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snapshot of Australian culture If you remember playing cricket in the street with your friends, riding your bike without a helmet, 20cent bags of mixed lollies and wearing ice cream tubs with faces on them on your head to keep magpies from swooping-then you want to watch this movie. This is Australia in the late 70’s and is a cult classic. It is one of the best representations of that time and the attention to detail by the writers from the script to the set, costumes and props is sensational. Your face will hurt from laughing so much!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from basically I found it boring. i bought the product but was disappointing , as I was brought up in the era of the film, and even the actors I thought were average for there status , for being leading actors from our country, when other films from that era, told better story lines .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the title is unusual enjoyed this movie on Foxtel. Took me back to growing up in the late 70s and early 80s. Typical and at times frightening australian society.
