Is your heart in the right place?

Dr. Steven Murphy (Colin Farrell) is a renowned cardiovascular surgeon presiding over a spotless household with his ophthalmologist wife Anna (Nicole Kidman) and their two exemplary children, 12-year-old Bob (Sunny Suljic) and 14-year-old Kim (Raffey Cassidy). Lurking at the margins of his idyllic suburban existence is Martin (Barry Keoghan), a fatherless teen who Steven has covertly taken under his wing. As Martin begins insinuating himself into the family's life in ever-more unsettling displays, the full scope of his intent becomes menacingly clear when he confronts Steven with a long-forgotten transgression that will shatter the Murphy family's domestic bliss.

Yorgos Lanthimos has crafted a sensational thriller brimming with unsettling humour and creeping dread, steeped in Greek tragedy, Hitchcockian psychodrama, and riveting suspense. Darting confidently between genres to subvert our expectations at every turn, The Killing of a Sacred Deer firmly cements Lanthimos in the pantheon of world-class auteurs and marks him as a cinematic provocateur without precedent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bizarre - highly original, teetering on Brilliance "The Killing of A Sacred Deer" is a highly unusual title for mainstream cinema; yet don't let the title dissuade you off purchasing and watching it. Starring Colin Farrell ("Alexander", "In Bruges") and Nicole Kidman ("The Hours") and directed by a young Greek director, " The Killing of A Sacred Deer" is a highly original, unusual film which grips the audience and amply displays that you are watching something rare, unique and very non-Hollywood. But one thing is vividly clear and visceral: this is brilliant cinema. Part Hitchcockian, part Kubrickian, and part Greek chorus, this film stands heads and shoulders over many films. A cinematic masterwork.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Possibly the best film of 2017, however.... The fact that this film is only receiving a DVD release is absolutely disgraceful, just like when 'A Ghost Story' came out. Why can't such brilliant films received high definition physical releases? How hard is that!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome movie I purchased "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" last week and the Yorgos Lanthimos thriller is an outrageous revenge saga deservedly winning the best screenplay at the Festival de Cannes.
