The true story of a life lost and found

In 1986, Saroo was a five-year-old child in India of a poor but happy rural family. On a trip with his brother, Saroo soon finds himself alone and trapped in a moving decommissioned passenger train that takes him to Calcutta, 1500 miles away from home. Now totally lost in an alien urban environment and too young to identify either himself or his home to the authorities, Saroo struggles to survive as a street child until he is sent to an orphanage.

Soon, Saroo is selected to be adapted to the Brierley family in Tasmania, where he grows up in a loving prosperous home. However, for all his material good fortune, Saroo finds himself plagued by his memories of his lost family in his adulthood and tries to search for them even as his guilt drives him to hide this quest from his adoptive parents and his girlfriend. Only when he has an epiphany does he realize not only the answers he needs, but also the steadfast love he has always had with all his loved ones in both worlds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "An Average Review" Lion 2017 LION 2017 REVIEW Greetings everyone, its the AverageMovieViewer and I'm here to bring you my review on the new movie Lion. Which is the story of a young Indian boy who was separated from his family and 20 years later through fragments of his memory retraces his steps back to his family. I didn't really have any expectations going into this movie but I'm glad I didn't because I was especially surprised after walking out. To start with the story is touching and brings out an emotion you might not know you had. Half the movie is spent with Saroo as a young child, showing what he went through after he went missing. The young actor playing Saroo was amazing, he brought such a nuance atmosphere and made you believe the anguish that he felt, and great, not worthy performances from Dev Petal, Rooney Mara and Nicole Kidman as well. This movie is also shot beautifully, capturing the difference in culture and also the feeling of claustrophobia in tense moments. Accompanied by a rich and invigorating score makes every moment mean something. There are a couple of flaws, i feel the second act falls a little with the editing. Scenes seem a bit jumbled and feel out order in some way, cutting away too soon and not knowing what point in time you are watching is a little jarring, but having a strong first act and a touching final act really make up for the movie. All up it was an experience worth your time with a touching story, great cinematography and very well acted.
