Description

Sometimes it takes nine lives to save one

When James Bowen found an injured, ginger street cat curled up in the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, he had no idea just how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London and the last thing he needed was a pet. Yet James couldn't resist helping the strikingly intelligent tom cat, whom he quickly christened Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, imagining he would never see him again. But Bob had other ideas. Soon the two were inseparable and their diverse, comic and occasionally dangerous adventures would transform both their lives, slowly healing the scars of each other's troubled pasts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tear jerker What about that scene when he returns to his father's house to tell him that he's now clean & his dad shows him the photo. His dad's wife, who is very annoying, shouts out, "who you talking to?" "I'm talking to my son". Man, if you don't tear up at that scene than there is no hope for you. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. Great story

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Street Cat Named Bob Important subject matter regarding pathways to rehabilitation from substance abuse and historical parental neglect - unfortunately this story was given a directorial overdose of the quirky British comedy cliché ; the personal journey to recovery aided by Bob the cat deserved better treatment.
