We have a crisis. The juvenile gang problem is completely out of control...It is true that law enforcement has been driven to deplorable extremes but those guns are out there and believe me if the people who have them get organised no one will stand a chance!
Police Commissioner Davidson of L.A County PD.

An isolated police station is in the process of relocation. Lt. Ethan Bishop (Austin Stoker, Roots) is a dedicated cop overseeing the job. But when a busload of convicts make an unexpected pit-stop, including notorious death row prisoner Napoleon Wilson (Darwin Joston, The Fog), the precinct becomes a scene of restless animosity and bubbling testosterone. Their situation is soon compounded by a ruthless street gang surrounding the station, armed to the hilt and ready to rampage against the establishment. Under siege, convicts and cops must unite to face the gang and survive the brutal and bloody onslaught. Two years before he revolutionised the horror genre with cult-classic Halloween, maverick filmmaker John Carpenter (The Thing, They Live) exploded onto the scene with this gritty urban western, displaying an arsenal of bad guys, stylish set-pieces with tension to burn and attitude to match. Propelled by Carpenter’s signature atmospheric music and suspenseful approach Assault on Precinct 13 is an incendiary thriller of high impact.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Carpenter's Assault makes its mark on Blu-ray Without giving much away, I'll put it as best described by Rotten Tomatoes, " Lean, taut and compellingly gritty, John Carpenter's loose update of Rio Bravo ranks as a cult action classic and one of the filmmaker's best". That should enough convincing to go out and check it out if you haven't yet seen it. Assault on Precinct 13 is first Australian release on Blu-ray to get the 2.35:1 widescreen ratio as intended and as for HD quality, it's excellent. The audio sounds great and is the way Assault is best enjoyed in the losseless 5.1 track with guns blazing and explosions shattering. We also get first time extras here including a commentary with John Carpenter and Dark Star as a nice bonus. It's a no-brainer. Make his first feature a priority purchase.
