Description

Welcome to 'Sherlock' in 1895! Some things, though, remain reassuringly the same. Friendship, adventure and especially, MURDER... Why is Thomas Ricoletti a little surprised to see his wife dressed in her old wedding gown? Because, just a few hours before, she took her own life... Mrs Ricoletti's ghost now appears to be prowling the streets with an unshakeable thirst for revenge. From fog-shrouded Limehouse to the bowels of a ruined church, Holmes, Watson and their friends must use all their cunning to combat an enemy seemingly from beyond the grave and the final, shocking truth about... the Abominable Bride!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The slow decline of a once promising adventure For those who are avid readers of the stories, or the previous series, you will know that the creation of, and the adventures embarked upon by the quirky Sherlock Holmes are (at least in my view) deserving of the same stature as the words of Shakespeare. Indeed this series placed at 21th Century edging to this classic. The initial series was electric, quick and engaging. Since that series, we have seen it slowly dive into the frustratingly quirky world of Holmes' unstable mind, making for less watchable viewing. This latest instalment shows, regrettably, too much of this. Whilst still worth a look, it adds little to the overall amaze that is, or perhaps was, Sherlock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PURE BRILLIANCE This movie length Sherlock is period set, quirky and perfectly written. It links Season 3 with Season 4 in a fascinating way, while giving us a different look at the characters (traditional Arthur Conan Doyle style!!) I wasn't sure how they would pull this off (loving the show, and also thinking it might twist the modern/offbeat feeling a bit too much to throw them into the era) but it is in deed quite wonderful and keeps the full Sherlockiness vibe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Such a fantastic film! For any fans of Sherlock, this DVD is a must. Mysterious, scary, and somewhat surprising, The Abominable Bride is brilliantly devised, but a second watch is definitely needed. The creators of Sherlock have done a wonderful job yet again, even if the films plot seems confusing at times. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are once again pure brilliance to watch, just going to show the setting doesn't change the success of this pairing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely essential viewing for all Sherlock fans This was billed as a summer filler for fans but the storyline is such that it is essential to watch before the next season comes out as it continues the storyline from the end of last season to the next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sherlock and watson at their best Being a huge fan of the sherlock series, i found this to be a little different and extremely amusing. A fine mixture of drama and the banter between the characters. Highly recommend it to sherlock fans

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Typically cryptic title gets you in straight away. Brilliant concept to return Holmes & Watson to Conan Doyle's original setting. Period setting done amazingly well and as a Sherlock fan I was not disappointed in any way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I don't review for Sherlock Holmes Really enjoyable special full of extras, great Victorian twist, and relevant to the long awaited series 4 (when it comes finally). A must for Sherlock fans.
