Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Who In Style There are two reasons to buy this - either you're new to Doctor Who, or you're upgrading your DVD collection. If you're upgrading, this set is completely worth it. A slew of new extras, with some surprising insights, plus an outstanding picture quality make the new set a must. If you're new to Who, the set has upgraded special effects which may make Classic Who more palatable to those who have modern expectations. The stories are fantastic (with a notable exception that doesn't quite hit a high), and a couple are genuinely perfect examples of Doctor Who. In short - buy this set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these reissues I bought Season 19 on the day it was released and have just finished watching the 8 discs. The picture and sound are far superior to the DVDs (though, surprisingly, the stories haven't changed). There are lots of new special features, though, interestingly, a comparison of the contents of the DVDs and Blu-rays reveals that, in both Season 12 [released last year] and Season 19, some stories have extras on the DVD that aren't available on Blu-ray, mainly features on books or comics. So, I will be keeping the DVDs even though the Blu-rays are a vast improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Packaging I bought this item the day upon release and I was very happy with it. I recommend this item to any fans of Peter Davison's doctor, or just Doctor Who in general

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Definitive 5th Doctor Experience While i much prefer Peter Davisons Second and Third seasons, this Box Set proves that high quality classic Doctor Who is easily the best viewing experience. Hopefully these box sets pave the way for future classic seasons in Blu-Ray box-set form. I'm hoping for a Season 6 remaster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Box Set This "Doctor Who - The Collection" edition is really well done. Sad I missed out on getting the Previous “The Collection” edition box of The 4th Doctor Tom Baker’s 12 Season. The packaging, the booklet, the extras and the viewing options for the episodes are great. It's a season with some really great episodes (Kinda, The Visitation, Earthshock) and it's worth having just for them. It's also fun to revisit other stories that haven't always enjoyed the best reputation but have something to offer all the same (Four to Doomsday). The documentaries and cast viewings are really interesting with great insights into the making of the season. The price of the set at the time I purchased it was really reasonable too, especially considering everything that comes with it. Very happy with everything, highly recommended! Thank you once again JB HiFi :) A+++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back when New Doctor Who was Important This was new when I was in year 11 in high school and probably the last time I was spoiler free watching a new series. This is DW with a new cast, looking shiny, sounding sharp. There are some bits that make your head explode and some bits that bring a lump to your throat. This is a part of the DW legend. On Bluray it looks better than ever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great viewing fir a whovian I have watched all the episodes for this season and enjoyed everyone. It took me back in time when I was younger watching these shows as they came on tv. The remastering is great providing crystal clear viewing at todays standards of acshow not shot in hd. I would recommend this box set to any fan of the classic Doctor Who series.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A disappointment from Disc 1 I've just started watching Disc 1 'Castrovalva' and the picture quality is no better than a decently upscaled DVD from a good player/TV combo. Audio is nice as is the packaging. I looked closely on the back of the box and it says "Aspect: 1081i" I know 'i' is Interlaced but what on earth is 1081 ??? The restoration of these episodes so far falls well short of the stunning Bluray of 'Spearhead from Space' which oddly enough is also an interlaced image...but 1080.
