Any Australian resident over 18 years old can use JB Hi-Fi Trade-In. Devices must be shipped within Australia. Photo ID (either a driver’s licence or passport) and a valid credit/debit card is required.

Yes. You can trade-in multiple devices, up to the total combined trade-in credit of $2500.

You’ll receive your trade-in credit via a JB Hi-Fi eGift Card. You’ll receive an email with a download link as soon as you accept the trade-in value offered.

With JB Hi-Fi Trade-In, your trade-in credit is provided to you via a JB Hi-Fi eGift Card, before we receive your old device back. This allows you to upgrade to a new device sooner. Your credit/debit card details are required so we can process a trade-in security pre-authorisation for the value of the JB Hi-Fi Trade-In eGift Card issued to you. Should your old device not be returned within 7 days your credit card will be charged for the value of the trade in credit. Once your old device is received and its condition verified, the pre-authorisation is released.

We provide a value based on the information you give us about the condition of your device. When we receive your old device we assess its condition against the information you provided. If we believe the condition of your device is significantly different and impacts the trade in value we have provided, we will contact you. You'll have the option to accept or decline the new value. If you choose to decline, we'll send your device back and charge your nominated credit/debit card the value of the trade-in credit.
If you accept the revised value, we will charge your nominated credit/debit card the difference between the revised value and the value of the trade-in credit issued,

No, if the device can still be turned on, it should still qualify. “click on get a quote now” to check your device value. If the device is water damaged please ensure this is selected in the self assessment.

Your JB Hi-Fi eGift Card can be used to purchase a new device instore or online. The credit cannot be redeemed for cash.

If the upfront value of the new device is less than the eGift Card amount, the remaining credit can be applied towards other JB Hi-Fi purchases. The remaining credit cannot be redeemed for cash.

You can trade in a device at any time that suits you, however if you would like to use the eGift Card towards your current purchase the trade-in must be completed first, we are unable to retrospectively apply the eGift Card to a purchase instore or online.

Your eGift Card doesn’t expire. Once you receive your eGift Card, you have 7 business days to send us your old device. If after 7days, we haven’t received your old device back, we will charge your credit/debit card for the value of the eGift Card provided.

Most models have the number printed on the back of the handset. 
For Smartphones the IMEI number can be found by going to the Telephone Keypad and following these steps:
1. Press * # 0 6 # on your keypad
2. Press ‘Call’ or ‘Send’ as if you are making a call
3. Your IMEI number will be retrieved and displayed on your screen.

Phones have Brand followed by a Series of model and then the model name or number.

Carefully pack your item(s) in a suitable package or box. Ensure that the items are secure and won’t get damaged during transit. Suitable packaging to protect devices during transit are available from Australia Post stores.

Our Australia Post eParcel label is free. Simply print or take an electronic copy to your nearest Australia Post office. You will receive the label and instructions via email.

Your device may be reused, refurbished, repaired and re-distributed anywhere around the world. Heavily damaged devices are disassembled and used for their parts. If the device has no residual value they are recycled with our ISO certified recycling partners and broken down for their raw materials.

Yes, but only if we haven’t finished processing the returned device. And, we'll have to charge your credit/debit card for the value of the eGift Card already issued.

If any devices returned to us have been reported lost or stolen we won’t honour the trade-in value. We are required by law to hand in any device that is stolen to the legal owner or to the local police and your credit/debit card will be charged the value of the JB Hi-Fi Trade-In eGift Card issued to you.

All trade-in purchases are completed by Assurant, in accordance with the Assurant terms and conditions here.

JB Hi-Fi receives commissions from Assurant on trade-in transactions.

We ask you to factory reset your device before sending it to us so that your data is erased. To be sure, we also wipe data from all devices with industry leading erasure systems. If a data card is left in a device these are also wiped or destroyed to make sure that any photos are no longer present.

For iPhones & iPads

Backing up your data through iCloud is the safest and easiest way. To do this, turn on iCloud Backup and it will automatically start. If iCloud is already connected, simply select the ""Back Up Now"" option in settings.

For Androids

Simply go to the Settings app, search for backup and follow the prompts from there to backup to your nominated cloud storage account.

For Gaming Consoles

An external hard drive can be connected to your console and formatted to the correct console. Any saved game data can then be backed up.

Sign out of your gaming player profile.
All consoles will need you to create an account to play. Please select you player profile within your console home screen. Then sign out and delete the profile.

Remove your Xbox profile from an Xbox console
Press the Xbox button Home to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.
Choose the profile that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.

For iPads & MacBooks

Create a backup
Make sure you have a current backup of your important files. Find out how to back up your Mac.

Sign out of iTunes in macOS Mojave or earlier
If you're using macOS Mojave or earlier, open iTunes. From the menu bar at the top of the screen or iTunes window, choose Account > Authorisations > Deauthorise This Computer. Then enter your Apple ID and password and click Deauthorise.

Sign out of iCloud
If you're using macOS Catalina or later, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Apple ID. Select Overview in the sidebar, then click Sign Out.

 If you're using macOS Mojave or earlier, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click iCloud, then click Sign Out.

 You will be asked whether to keep a copy of your iCloud data on this Mac. You can click Keep a Copy, because you're erasing your Mac later. Your iCloud data remains in iCloud and on any other devices that are signed in to iCloud with your Apple ID.

Sign out of iMessage
If you're using OS X Mountain Lion or later, open the Messages app, then choose Messages > Preferences from the menu bar. Click iMessage, then click Sign Out.

Reset NVRAM
Shut down your Mac, then turn it on and immediately press and hold these four keys together: Option, Command, P and R. Release the keys after about 20 seconds. This clears user settings from the memory and restores certain security features that may have been altered.

Optional: Unpair Bluetooth devices that you’re keeping
If your Mac is paired with a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, trackpad or other Bluetooth device that you plan to keep, you can unpair it. This optional step prevents accidental input when the Mac and device have separate owners but remain in Bluetooth range of each other.

If you're unpairing Bluetooth input devices from a desktop computer, such as an iMac, Mac mini or Mac Pro, you must plug in a USB keyboard and mouse to complete the remaining steps in this article.

To unpair a Bluetooth device, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth. Move your pointer over the device that you want to unpair, then click the remove (x) button next to the device name.

Erase your hard drive and reinstall macOS
The best way to restore your Mac to factory settings is to erase your hard drive and reinstall macOS.

 After macOS installation has been completed, the Mac will restart to a setup assistant that will ask you to choose a country or region. To leave the Mac in an out-of-box state, don't continue the setup process. Instead, press Command-Q to shut down the Mac. When the new owner turns on the Mac, the setup assistant will guide them through the setup process.

• Go to "Settings" and tap your name at the top of the list.
• Tap "Find My"
• Tap “Find my iPhone”
• Toggle off "Find My iPhone" and enter your Apple ID password.

• "Face ID and Passcode"
• Turn off "Stolen Device Protection"

• Go to Settings , then do one of the following:
  - On an iPhone with Face ID: Tap Face ID & Passcode, then enter your passcode.
  - On an iPhone with a Home button: Tap Touch ID & Passcode, then enter your passcode.
  
• Scroll down and tap Stolen Device Protection.
• Turn off Stolen Device Protection.

• Make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi or Cellular network.
• Go to your Settings. Select Accounts and Back up.
• Select Accounts. Select your Google account. Select Remove Account.
• Select Remove Account again to confirm. From PC - Turn it Off Reactivation Lock from Google’s website.
• If you don’t have access to your device For Samsung’s users Go to account.samsung.com Sign in into your account. Click on Profile. Select Delete Account option Note: deleting the account is the only way to remotely remove the activation lock.
• For Google’s users Go to www.google.com/android/find Sign in into your account.
• Select the Device.
• Click on Erase Device option
• Select Erase Device to confirm Enter your Google account password to reset the device.
