Aquila’s Nylgut is its first among many innovations of strings with the historically renowned sound of gut, but without gut’s tonal instability, high cost and short lifespan. Nylgut has an almost identical molecular structure and acoustical properties of gut. Its synthetic characteristics however allow it to be made into strings that can withstand much greater tension without the deterioration found in gut strings. And perhaps most important, Nylgut is much less expensive to produce and stays in tune much longer and under more varied climate situations than gut ever did.
