Trudging the back roads in old carts or broken down motor vehicles the 'battlers' roamed from town to town. It was a life of dole-book rations, hardship and deprivation, but also of laughter, kindness and camaraderie. Against this backdrop, Snow Grimshaw (Gary Sweet, The Tracker) and Dancy Smith (Jacqueline McKenzie, The Water Diviner) meet, two road travellers thrown together by circumstance... and eventually held together by love.The Battlers is a beautifully moving mini-series.
