Everyone’s favourite Kiwi detectives DSS Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea), DC Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland), DC Daniel Chalmers (Jarod Rawiri) and pathologist Gina Kadinsky (Cristina Ionda) return in the ninth season of The Brokenwood Mysteries!

With six feature-length, standalone mysteries, series nine begins with a sizzle when the story of Brokenwood’s history is re-enacted in a musical theatre performance that goes horrifically awry when the show’s composer is electrocuted on stage. But was it murder or just an unfortunate accident?

Mike and his trusty team continue to wrestle with Brokenwood’s alarming murder rate, using all manner of unconventional methods to solve the town’s numerous macabre and unusual crimes.
