Described by The Music Magazine as "Melbourne's high priestess of soul," Kylie Auldist is about to claim the title internationally with the release of her fourth album 'Family Tree,' coinciding with the success of "This Girl" by Kungs vs Cookin' on 3 Burners featuring Kylie Auldist which is topping the singles charts throughout Europe and the UK and dominating iTunes charts across the world. 'Family Tree' marks a stylistic evolution for Kylie combining her love of contemporary Electronic Dance Music and influences from the hedonistic, golden age of Disco, Funk and Boogie.
To bring the album to life, Kylie enlisted the song-writing and production chops of long-time collaborator Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos /Lanu) and Graeme Pogson (G.L. / Mondofreaks). Working between their own various studio spaces they wrote and recorded an 11-track opus of exhilarating, expansive 21st century Soul. It proved to be a winning combination – Pogson's innate knowledge of 1980's-influenced Boogie rhythms colliding with Ferguson's progressive musical aesthetic to provide a perfect foil for Auldist's raw, emotive vocals. 'Family Tree' was mixed by lauded producer/engineer John Castle.
'Family Tree' is the record Kylie Auldist always wanted to make, and is in many ways the most honest and personal of all her solo releases. Above all, here is an album that literally SOUNDS like an artist in her element. She possesses a voice that can run the gamut from soaring vocal pyrotechnics to heart-wrenching tenderness. Her down to earth, warm but no BS personality permeates 'Family Tree' in the same way as it does her live shows, which are absolutely electric with a huge dose of boogie power. You are definitely invited to the party but you had better be able to keep up!
