Recomposed by Peter Gregson: Bach - The Cello Suites
Not yet reviewed.
Peter Gregson is a cellist and composer from Edinburgh, Scotland. He collaborates with many of today's leading film composers, including Rupert Gregson-Williams and Max Richter.
He has worked and performed on Ed Sheeran's album ÷ (Perfect, How Would You Feel, Happier) and as composer, his score for Alan Rickman's A Little Chaos (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) was nominated at the 2015 World Soundtrack Awards. Recently, he completed his first video game score for PlayStation's Boundless.
Being a cellist himself, Peter Gregson has been performing the Bach Cello Suites (probably the best-loved works for the instrument) since his childhood. And now, Bach's Cello Suites receives a thoroughly modern makeover in this sublime album.
Instead of being performed by a solo player, Gregson plays the six suites with an ensemble of five other cellists, in various combinations, underpinned by a subtle electronic soundbed created and played by the composer himself.
