Zach Stephenson, best known as the frontman and principal songwriter of Hockey Dad, releases his debut album, I Needed To Hear Me Say It, via radius/VMG.

Drawing on the timeless songwriting of Nick Lowe, the infectious hooks of New Radicals and the cinematic scope of The Last Shadow Puppets, the record explores new musical territory while retaining Zach’s unmistakable voice and melodic instincts. Through Hockey Dad, Zach has built a loyal Australian following across more than a decade of touring, festival appearances and multiple ARIA-charting releases. His solo debut gives that audience a fresh perspective on a familiar songwriter, while opening the door to listeners beyond the band’s established sound.
