The Hisense 50" U6SAU Mini-LED Hi-QLED 4K TV is a good fit for family living rooms, movies and gaming. It has Mini LED backlighting with Hi-QLED colour, a native 144Hz refresh rate for compatible games, and Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos support.

Mini LED picture

This TV has a 50" 4K Ultra HD screen (3840 × 2160) with a Mini LED backlight, which means many small LEDs control brightness across the picture. The U6S is designed to keep colour and contrast vivid in brighter living rooms.

This TV has the Hi-View AI Engine, which means colour, contrast and clarity are adjusted in real time as you watch. It also upscales lower-resolution content to 4K, which means older shows and free-to-air TV fill the screen more cleanly. Results depend on the source.

Gaming and connections

This TV has a native 144Hz refresh rate, and Game Mode can run up to 144Hz, which means smoother motion with compatible games, consoles and PCs.

This TV supports HDMI VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), which means less tearing and stutter when the frame rate changes, and a switch to a low-lag picture mode when a compatible device asks for it.

This TV has 4 HDMI inputs, 2 of them HDMI 2.1, which means you can connect several devices and keep the HDMI 2.1 inputs for high refresh rate gaming. Use an HDMI 2.1 input and a suitable cable, as results depend on the device and game. It also has 2 USB ports, Ethernet, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth.

Movies and sound

This TV supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HDR10+, which means compatible movies and shows have more detail in the bright and dark parts of the picture.

This TV supports Dolby Atmos, and it has a built-in subwoofer, which means extra bass from the TV itself. It also has HDMI eARC and an optical digital audio output, which means you can step up to a soundbar or home theatre system later.

Smart TV and apps

This TV runs VIDAA, which means Netflix, Stan, Disney+, Binge, Foxtel Now, Prime Video, Apple TV+, YouTube, ABC iview, SBS On Demand, 7plus and 9Now are all in one place, plus Freeview for free-to-air. Netflix, Stan, Disney+, Binge, Foxtel Now, Prime Video and Apple TV+ require an additional subscription and internet connection at additional cost.

This TV has Apple AirPlay 2, which means you can share from compatible Apple devices. It has Amazon Alexa built in and works with Google Home and Apple HomeKit, which means you can control it with your voice or from your smart home app.
