This 85-inch Sony BRAVIA 9 II 4K Google TV suits a home cinema setup where built-in sound matters. It has a True RGB Mini-LED backlight with local dimming, Sony's Beam Tweeter sound system, Dolby Vision and HDMI 2.1 gaming features.

True RGB Mini-LED picture

This TV has a True RGB Mini-LED panel with a Mini LED backlight and local dimming, which means dark areas can stay dark while bright details stand out, such as lights in a night scene.

This TV has XR Clear Image, which means AI processing upscales lower-resolution content and reduces noise, so older shows and free-to-air TV look cleaner on a big screen. Results vary with the quality of the source.

Motion

This TV has a native 120Hz panel and XR Motion Clarity, which syncs the backlight with on-screen movement to help fast action in sport and games look clearer.

Gaming and connections

This TV has four HDMI inputs, two of them HDMI 2.1. The HDMI 2.1 inputs support 4K at 120Hz, variable refresh rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), which means smoother, more responsive gaming on a compatible console such as PS5. VRR needs a game that supports it, and PS5 consoles need the latest system software.

This TV has Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which means HDR is set for you during PS5 initial setup. It also supports Dolby Vision gaming.

Movies and sound

This TV supports Dolby Vision and HLG HDR, which means movies and shows made in these formats have more detail in the bright and dark parts of the picture. It also has an IMAX Enhanced picture mode and a 24fps cinema mode for films.

This TV has Acoustic Multi-Audio+, with an up-firing Beam Tweeter at the top and frame tweeters at the sides, which means sound seems to come from the screen, where the action is. Dolby Atmos and DTS are supported.

This TV has 3D Surround Upscaling, which means it creates virtual surround from the TV speakers, including from stereo and 5.1 sources. It is a virtual effect, not physical rear speakers.

This TV has HDMI eARC, which means you can connect a soundbar or AV receiver with one cable. Optical audio output is also available via an adapter.

Google TV and apps

This TV runs Google TV with Gemini, which means apps including Netflix, Stan, Disney+, Binge, Kayo, Apple TV+ and Paramount+ sit alongside catch-up apps such as ABC iview and SBS On Demand. Netflix, Stan, Disney+, Binge, Kayo, Apple TV+ and Paramount+ require an additional subscription and internet connection at additional cost.

This TV has Google Assistant built in and also works with Amazon Alexa, which means you can control it with your voice. Apple AirPlay 2 lets you share from compatible Apple devices.
