Second Sign of Life is the third studio album from Cardinal Black.
Self-produced and selfengineered, the record was created largely while the band were in transit, recorded at Clouds Hill Studios in Hamburg between dates on a European tour. Where its predecessor Midnight at The Valencia looked outward toward the romance and tantalising borrowedglamour of Americana, Second Sign of Life turns its attention closer to home.
The result is a more immediate, stripped-back and introspective record rooted in the band's British surroundings and shaped by the strange, in-between spaces of life on the road. Across ten songs, Cardinal Black balance soulful vocals, expressive guitar playing and a rawer, more instinctive musical approach with some of their most personal songwriting to date, capturing a band increasingly-comfortable trusting its instinct and defining its own sound.
