Hailing from the Live Rock'n'Roll Capital of the Universe - Melbourne - The Casanovas have the grit and energy of predecessors like Bored and The Powder Monkeys and of course as Melbourne's once-adopted sons, AC/DC. They were, and still are, a merging of two great local traditions - metal-tinged punk rock'n'roll, and larrikin Oz pub rock.
The Casanovas started the century making a name for themselves sharing line ups with the likes of The White Stripes, Mot rhead, Motley Crue, The Darkness, The Living End, The Black Crowes, Redd Kross and Airbourne, embarking on UK and European tours their Kiwi brothers in arms, The Datsuns, playing shows at SXSW and The Big Day Out, and being played on heavy rotation on Triple J.
While things have steadied for the band since their decade of success, fast-forward to 2020 and The Casanovas are now the elder statesmen riding the resurgence of the rock mania, dutifully filling a similar position of that of the heroes they looked up to when they were starting out. An unexpected European tour restarted the fire in the band's belly as they packed out venues heaving with beer and sweat and to a rabid audience wanting to rock'n'roll.
Last year, with a set of great new material, the re-tooled Casanovas hit the studio with iconic Oz rock producer Mark Opitz (AC/DC, The Angels, Cold Chisel, The Divinyls) to record what the band believes to be their 'best album yet'. The new album, Reptilian Overlord, due to be released this winter, blends layers of old with layers of new. It rocks hard, and it sounds fucking great and includes new fan favourite singles 'Hollywood Riot' and 'Red Hot'.
