Gold Is The Metal (With The Broadest Shoulders), Coil’s vital 1987 compilation, is remastered and reissued. Originally described as “the space between two twins”, the record served as a crucial bridge between Horse Rotorvator and Love’s Secret Domain.

The album hones an "electro-erotics of sound," blending textural instrumental pieces with notable field recordings – including a drunken brass band captured in Mexico and a Thai boxing arena recorded by Sleazy. A key moment of serendipity is found in ‘Metal In The Head’, which features a malfunctioning Fairlight sampler randomly rearranging and distorting the music.

Remastered under the guidance of original member Stephen Thrower, this new edition features restored artwork, previously unseen imagery and new sleeve notes, and marks the start of a new reissue series through The Grey Area of Mute.
