1958’s Soultrane is a classic from jazz saxophonist John Coltrane.

Taking on covers of jazz standards, American songbook classics and show tunes, culminating in a frantic take on Irving Berlin’s ‘Russian Lullaby’, it was an album that showcased Coltrane’s ‘sheets of sound’ aesthetic (a term coined by critic Ira Gitler in the album’s original liner notes).
