Louis and Oli Leimbach have always built Lime Cordiale from a collision of worlds. Raised on Sydney’s Northern Beaches by an English cellist mother and a filmmaker father, the brothers grew up surrounded by music, art and storytelling long before Lime Cordiale became one of Australia’s most recognisable bands; with three studio albums, 12 ARIA Award nominations, two ARIA Award wins, including Breakthrough Act and Best Live Act, and two #1 ARIA albums, 14 Steps To A Better You and Enough Of The Sweet Talk.
That history comes full circle on Lime Cordiale with Sydney Symphony Orchestra Live from Sydney Opera House, a landmark live album recorded during three sold-out performances at one of Australia’s most iconic venues. Joined by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Vanessa Scammell, with lead arrangements by Alex Turley, the band reimagines songs from across their catalogue through a full orchestral lens.
For Louis and Oli, the collaboration reaches back to the foundations of the band itself. With classical clarinet, trumpet, concert bands and orchestras forming part of their early musical lives, the performance feels less like a departure than a return, reshaping Lime Cordiale’s familiar world with the scale, drama and emotional depth of the Symphony.
Across the album, the band’s charm, wit and distinctive songwriting are expanded into sweeping cinematic arrangements, transforming fan favourites. Both a celebration of their evolution and a tribute to the musical roots that shaped them, Live at Sydney Opera House captures a bucket-list moment designed to be experienced far beyond the Concert Hall.
