Released in 1993, Elegant Slumming was an era-defining release that confirmed M People as one of the UK’s most successful and distinctive pop acts.

Blending house music, soul and sophisticated production, and featuring a run of hit singles, the album was major commercial success in Britain (winning the Mercury Music Prize) while also building a substantial international audience, particularly across Europe and Australia.
