Ella Thompson is standing up for feeling. Standing up for joy and pain and all the messy, confusing, beautiful details that make life worth living. Soulful and timeless, her songs tell stories of the heart, finding universal truths in the honesty of personal experience.

Dropping via tastemaker label Mr Bongo (UK) and DIY artist-led College of Knowledge (AU), Triumph & Sadness is Ella’s most profound album yet - a powerful and unique record inspired by a classic sweet soul sound and rooted in the contemporary moment. Reaching out with vulnerability and poise, it is a plea for connection in a world gone numb. Triumph and Sadness follows 2024’s much beloved award-winning album A Ripple On The Wing.

Cutting the album direct-to-tape is just one of the touches of class that GRAMMY-winning producer Henry Jenkins (aka Jnbo) brings to the recording and engineering of  Triumph & Sadness. Recorded by Henry at Sound Recordings in Castlemaine, Australia, the album was mixed by Daptone / Wick Records’ Wayne Gordon. Together they authentically capture the live energy of some of the finest talent that Naarm/Melbourne has to offer, with Ella delivering a delectable and poignant taste of what’s to come on Triumph & Sadness.
