How to activate Home Plus+

1. Download the free Waffle Hub app (App Store or Google Play) and create a parent account.
2. Pair Waffle Home in the app (under 30 seconds) and connect it to your home Wi-Fi.
3. Add your approved contacts. Waffle Home starts on the Waffle Free Plan straight away.
4. To use Home Plus+, start the 10-day free trial in the Waffle Hub app. A$14.99 a month applies after 10 days unless cancelled.

FAQs

Does it need a phone plan or contract? 
No contract and no phone line. Waffle Home is a one-time purchase and works on the free plan with one approved contact. Home Plus+ is optional.

Who can call my child? 
Only the contacts you approve in the Waffle Hub app. Unknown numbers are blocked before they reach the handset.

Does it have a screen, apps or social media? 
No. Voice only - no web browser, no app store, no social media, no ads and nothing to scroll.

Do we need a landline? 
No. Waffle Home plugs into power and connects to your home Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz).

Can my child call emergency services? 
Yes. Triple Zero (000) is built in on every plan and can't be switched off. Waffle Home calls over Wi-Fi, so keep another working phone available in case Wi-Fi or power is down.

What age is it for? 
Made for kids aged 5 and up.

Does it work outside the house? 
No - Waffle Home stays at home on your Wi-Fi.

How hard is it to set up? 
Set up in the Waffle Hub app in a few minutes: create your account, connect to Wi-Fi and add your approved contacts.

Will it work with my internet provider? 
Yes. Some providers share one internet address across many homes (common on budget NBN plans, 5G home internet and satellite), which can stop incoming calls ringing. Firmware 1.1.6 and Waffle Hub app 1.0.9 add a connection configuration setting that fixes this - turn it on once in the app.

Calls go out but don't ring in? 
It's a network setting, not a fault - no need to return it. Update the app to 1.0.9+ and firmware to 1.1.6+, turn on the connection configuration setting in the app, then make a test call.

How do I update the firmware and app? 
Update Waffle Hub from the App Store or Google Play, plug the Waffle in and wait up to 5 minutes, then Device > Settings > Check for update and install. Updates also roll out automatically over Wi-Fi.
