Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't pay extra for the Mac version Easily reformatted for use on a Mac as a Timemachine backup drive. Don't spend the extra $25 for the Mac version. Very Happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plug and Play (for real) I literally unpacked the WD 2Tb drive out of the box and plugged it straight into the back of my IMac . It ran correctly first time with time machine allowing me to back up the new 2TB SSD I had installed into my IMac over night, and just sits there syncing with time machine. Very happy everything is backed up onto this drive....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Storage I have had the 1 & 2GB Silver versions of the WD hard drive but wanted some extra storage so went for this newer version. I like the older silver versions better as they are more streamline for travelling however the newer ones are still fine and serve the purpose well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vaue for money I needed extra portable hard drives and the price was good enough to buy two. I'm also happy that these can be password protected to safeguard private documents, bank statements, wills etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent backup device I had an older backup drive that used FireWire and only had 1TB of storage. After years of use, it finally started to complain about running out of space. The old drive was also a WD and it performed very well. At one point, it successfully restored my entire MacBook Pro because the internal drive had died. When it came time to get a new one, it made sense to get the same brand with a much larger storage. It was easy to add this new drive since it uses USB. Unexpectedly, it was possible with TimeMachine to still have both drives operational. I keep the older one since it has backups going back further in time. It is worth getting the larger size since it always helps to have more free space for backups. It typically is much faster and cheaper to backup locally than to the cloud. I respect the brand and it seems they have done a great job with the new drive. Also worth noting that you can use any extra space for other purposes (like storing photos).
