Bark Your Head Off, Dog
Not yet reviewed.
'Bark Your Head Off, Dog' will be Hop Along's third studio album; a formidable 9-song collection of the band's most intricate songs to date. Self-produced and recorded at The Headroom in Philadelphia by Reinhart and Kyle Pulley, it features the familiar sounds that have always made the band allergic to genre, but this time around, they've added strings, more elaborate rhythms, lush harmonies (featuring Thin Lips' Chrissy Tashjian), along with a momentary visit with a vocoder.
The first single from the album 'How Simple' has already been named 'Best New Track' by the tastemakers at Pitchfork, and it is a great indication of what is to come from the album. Bark Your Head Off, Dog displays a miraculous ability to marry folk, punk, rock and power-pop into a cohesive whole. Dynamic and textured, it spans the gamut from 90's angst to 70's girl-group vocal arrangements.
