Q. What is a digital receipt?
A digital receipt is an electronic copy of the paper receipt you buy in-store at the cash register. You can get a copy of your receipt sent to you by telling us your mobile number when you're paying at the cash register. From the link we text you, you can get your receipt emailed, save it to your phone, or save it to an online JB Hi-Fi account.

Q. Why should I get a digital receipt for my in-store purchase?
A. Having a digital copy of your paper receipt is really handy as a backup, it's easy to lose a paper receipt but there are lots of other reasons to keep an electronic copy:

  • Having a digital copy available on your mobile helps speed up warranty or return processes.
  • No more squinting at hard to read, faded old receipts.
  • No more shoe box filing systems.
  • Keep an easy electronic archive of your purchases for tax time.

Q. How do I get a digital receipt for an in-store purchase?
A. It's easy. When making a purchase at a JB Hi-Fi store, staff at checkout will ask you if you want to receive a digital receipt in addition to your paper one. Just tell them your mobile number and we'll text you a link to download or save a digital copy of your receipt. Internet access is required to download your digital receipt. You must give your mobile number at time of purchase if you want a digital receipt.

Q. How do I save an in-store receipt to my JB Hi-Fi online account?
A. There are 5 easy steps:

  1. Provide your mobile number in-store when you purchase to get a text message from us with a link to your receipt.
  2. Click on the link in the text message.
  3. From the 3 options, select 'Save to a JB Hi-Fi account'.
  4. Follow the prompts to login to your JB Hi-Fi account (or you can select 'create an account' if you don't currently have an online JB Hi-Fi account).
  5. Your receipt will be saved to your online JB Hi-Fi account and you will be able to view or email a copy of the receipt at any time from within your account.


Note: During this process you'll also be asked to verify your mobile number with a 4 digit code that is sent to your mobile in a separate text message.

Q. Why do I need to verify my mobile number?
A. Your receipt is an important record of the proof of purchase of your goods. To make sure no one but you can access your receipt we send a unique code to the mobile number you supplied in-store at the time of purchase. This code makes sure no one else can claim or misuse your receipt.

Q. I never got my text message/SMS.
A. To get a digital copy of your receipt you must give your mobile number to staff at the register at time of purchase. If you provided your mobile number in-store at the time of purchase but never received a text message from us, we will need a few details from you to verify the purchase. These details can be found on the paper receipt you got at time of purchase. Contact us to submit a receipt enquiry. 

Q. I accidentally deleted or lost the text message/SMS.
A. If you have your paper receipt, we just need a few details from it to verify you are the owner of that receipt. Contact us to submit a receipt enquiry and we'll resend the text message to the mobile number provided in-store at the time of purchase.

Q. I didn't give my mobile number when I purchased in-store. Can I still get a digital copy?
A. Unfortunately, no. At this stage we can't send you a digital receipt unless you gave us your mobile number at the time of purchase.

Q. Can I get digital copies of my old receipts?
A. We can't currently generate digital receipts for old transactions unless you gave us your mobile number at the time of purchase.

Q. What will my mobile number be used for?
A. We use your mobile number to send you a text message with the link to access your digital receipt. We will not send marketing to your mobile number.Please see our privacy policy for more information.

Q. I don't have a mobile number, can I still get one emailed to me?
A. Sorry, no. Right now we can only verify and link digital receipts via text message on mobile.

Q. What will my email address be used for?
A. We will use your email address to send you a copy of your receipt and check whether you have a JB Hi-Fi online account. We will only send you marketing material if you specifically opt in to receiving marketing material or create a new online account.

Q. If I go to a store, will the staff be able to look up my digital receipts?
A. No, store staff can't access your digital receipts. Digital receipts are only accessible by you. It's a good idea to save your digital receipt to a JB Hi-Fi online account so you can retrieve them later when you need them.

Q. Are my receipts transferable from one online account to another?
A. If you have already linked an in-store receipt to your online JB Hi-Fi account, you will not be able to transfer or link it to someone else's account.

Q. How do I link a receipt to my online account?
A. There are 5 easy steps:

  1. Provide your mobile number in-store when you purchase to get a text message from us with a link to your receipt.
  2. Click on the link in the text message.
  3. From the 3 options, select 'Save to a JB Hi-Fi account'.
  4. Follow the prompts to login to your JB Hi-Fi account (or you can select 'create an account' if you don't currently have an online JB Hi-Fi account).
  5. Your receipt will be saved to your online JB Hi-Fi account and you will be able to view or email a copy of the receipt at any time from within your account.

Q. Can I use a digital receipt to make a warranty claim?
A. Yes!

Q. Can I use my digital receipt for my tax?
A. Your digital receipt is a copy of your tax invoice. Please consult the Australian Taxation Office for questions on how to do your tax.

Q. Can anyone else claim my receipt?
A. Once you've linked it to your account no one else can claim your digital receipt. It is linked to the mobile number provided at time of purchase in-store.
