    Key Features

Twin HD Tuner with Large-Capacity 500GB HDD
You won’t believe how much content you can record and store! A Twin HD Tuner lets you record two different programs broadcasting at the same time, and the built-in, large-capacity 500GB Hard Disc Drive (HDD) records five times more content that the ordinary DR (Direct Record) mode. There’s enough space here to cover even the longest vacation or binge-watching marathon.
*1 Estimated bit rate is 15Mbps.

    TV Series Recording
When you register your favourite TV programs using the ‘Series Recording’ function, every episode in the series will automatically be recorded and stored each time they are broadcast. This great feature makes sure you’ll never miss your favourite shows and lets you watch your programs at your own leisure.

    External HDD Playback Through USB
Unlock Your Stored Content. Panasonic Recorders and Home Theatres are compatible with NTFS (NT File System) format external hard disk drives, so you can enjoy music (WMA, DSD, FLAC, MP3), photos (JPEG, MPO) and camcorder video content (MP4) archived on an external HDD.
    * The external HDD with capacities of 4TB or less in processing NTFS/ FAT32 data is supported. Playback is not possible with some external hard disk drives.

    Easy & Quick Operation
Improved processing speeds in the latest Panasonic Blu-ray recorders mean that even traditionally slow operations like calling up the electronic program guide (EPG) and direct navigator or opening the disc tray now happen almost instantly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use and set up I bought this for my 75 y.o. dad for Christmas, based on reviews I read online. And they were spot on - I generally am not great at setting up anything, but my I.T. savvy brother was away so I gave it a go. And no issues! Also, very easy to use, dad the handle of it pretty quickly. It's totally worth paying a little extra for that peace of mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good appliance. Long live recording from TV! I bought this to replace a seven-year-old Panasonic model, an earlier equivalent that did not have a digital receiver. The earlier model was still working well after being used a lot. This new model is just as easy to use and is not difficult to set up. It produces beautiful HD and standard recordings from TV. Unlike my previous recorder, this one creates chapters when recording from TV, enabling ads to be removed easily. The automatic chapter placing is pretty good but may not be perfect if you want to copy the program to disc; however, you can also create chapters manually and I believe this model enables more precise manual chapter placing than the earlier model did. Timer recording is much easier using the TV Guide. Am also happy that this model, like my earlier one, plays DVDs of all regions. As a teacher who is able to copy material legally from TV for educational purposes, I find this recorder very valuable and a useful alternative to streaming movies and TV if you're running out of quota. Now I just wish TV stations would screen some older and less common movies and vintage TV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blu-Ray Recorder is a fantastic feature Firstly, this player works well as a Blu-Ray player. Fantastic picture quality, as good as any Blu-Ray player I own and works very well playing through my Yamaha 5.1 Home Theatre System, decoding lossless audio DTS-HD and Dolby True HD tracks: producing excellent audio quality. Secondly, it records HD broadcasts well, playing back at an average bit rate of 15mbps, more than enough for 1080i. Therefore, you can re-watch programs on 7HD, 9HD &10HD in 1080i quality where you can't tell the difference between the broadcast quality and recorded quality. Also, the Blu-Ray recorder feature is fantastic. I connect my VCR through the composite input (RCA) and I have recorded my old Formula 1 VHS reviews to the HDD and then burnt them to Blu-Rays. Capable of easily transferring 3 hours of playing time to a 25GB Blu-Ray and I can then store my VHS tapes out of sight and easily store the Blu-Ray disc copy. While a VHS outputs in 576i (and you won't get a higher quality resolution via an composite input) the HDD does a 1080p transfer to the disc, so it comes out looking very nice and the audio is converted to 2.0 Dolby Digital, which is a nice plus. 1080i broadcasts will also transfer nicely to Blu-Ray disc in Full HD quality, should you desire to archive what you have recorded to disc format. I have found that it does not do the best job of upscaling DVDs to a 1080 Full HD resolution, but a DVD picture still looks very good, with a score of 4/5. Not as good as the PS3 upscaler (5/5), and in my humble opinion the Sony PS3 is still the best DVD upscaler on the market. Alas, I need to remind myself that DVDs will never look as good a Blu-Ray transfer that is native 1080/24p (or 1080i/50 for UK/Aussie TV on BD) as an upscaler is simply projecting what it "should" look like at 1080 resolution and is simply filling in the pixels with what the upscaler "thinks" should be there. While it does not have 4K upscaling, if you are not looking to purchase a 4K (Ultra HD) TV in the near future and are happy with your Full HD TV, I recommend getting this Blu-Ray Player/Recorder to record TV programs, archive VHS tapes and watch Blu-Ray movies/TV on Blu-Ray.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice machine! This is s great BluRay and Hard Disk recorder, and it works well for recording off the air. However, I also use it to put my old tape camera recordings on to DVD, and the fact that you have to record it to the hard drive first, then burn to the disc is a minor niggle. But it records the old camera tapes well from a Digital 8 camcorder. Overall, a great unit though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, top quality and a breeze to operate After having a nightmare Samsung HDD which was unreliable and clumsy and ultimately had to be returned, the Panasonic was fantastic. So easy to use and utterly reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent DVD recorder My Panasonic Tv is not smart but has a HDMI Port. My Panasonic DVD broke and I gave up my Foxtel as well. My TV did not need replacing but is still working. Yes, I am very pleased. It records to a hard drive and then to a disk. I can series link record. I set it up myself. Panasonic is the only DVD recorder left on the market. 20% off sale to boot.
